Willow Bend Dental's Advanced Technology
There has been much advancement in dentistry over the past twenty years, and keeping abreast with the latest technology is dentists, Dr. Beougher's and Dr. Simon's passions. In addition to the care, skill, and knowledge needed to produce world-class dentistry, having the latest in technological tools and materials is a necessity. It is our commitment to provide Plano with the latest in technological advancements for our patients. Here are some of our high-tech tools.
Digital X-Rays
Gendex X-Ray Sensor
Thanks to new technology we are able to take x-rays with up to 90% less radiation than from older conventional equipment. Dr. Beougher and Dr. Irvine utilize advanced digital x-ray sensors by Gendex. Designed with our patient's comfort and safety in mind, the Gendex x-ray sensor's special drop-like shape, smooth and round corners follow the anatomical shape of the oral cavity, simplifying sensor positioning and optimizing patient comfort. The ergonomic shape allows accurate sensor positioning and provides precise digital results.

GENDEX GXCB-500
Dental Implants and Extractions
When considering dental implants or extraction of unwanted teeth, the GENDEX GXCB-500 is our most valuable technological tool. Blending innovation with patient comfort, the GENDEX GXCB-500 produces immediate three-dimensional images of patients' critical anatomy, typically in less than one minute. The GENDEX GXCB-500 provides complete views of all oral and maxillofacial structures and allows our dentists to make an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan.
With the GENDEX GXCB-500 our dentists are able to evaluate and analyze critical anatomy for implants, within minutes right in our office. We are then able to optimize implant treatment and placement and selection of the most suitable implant type, size, location, and angulations prior to surgery.
The GENDEX GXCB-500 provides precise, cross-sectional slices of any desired location in the maxilla or mandible with exact anatomical information, including dimensions and locations. 3-D images assist in determining if bone grafting or sinus lift is warranted in areas of insufficient bone for the implant procedure.
The GENDEX GXCB-500 is also a valuable diagnostic tooth when evaluating the position, location, and angulations of third molars (wisdom teeth). The highly accurate three-dimensional images give our dentists, Dr. Beougher and Dr. Simon important information prior to the safe removal of unwanted teeth.
TMJ Analysis The GENDEX GXCB-500's ability to provide three-dimensional images of the condyles and surrounding structures allows for complete analysis and diagnosis of bone morphology, joint space, and function - all critical to TMJ dysfunction treatment and care.
The GENDEX GXCB-500 is an invaluable diagnostic tool for Dr. Beougher and Dr. Simon when treating TMJ disorders. High-speed scans capture TMJ open jaw views quickly and accurately. If you have any questions about the GENDEX GXCB-500, please contact our Plano office for additional information.
TOPDigital Cameras
Nikon D100
One of our most important diagnostic tools is the digital camera. Having the ability to review digital images instantly and prior to treatment, allows Dr. Beougher and Dr. Simon to co-discover areas of concern. This is especially important when considering cosmetic changes.
Our office uses the Nikon D100 as our primary digital camera. The D100 has 6.1 megapixel image qualities, meeting the demands of even the professional photographer. The images are used for diagnosis, patient communication, treatment planning, treatment confirmation, shade matching, computerized imaging, and lecture purposes. We have an extensive photo library, which contains hundreds of dental procedures taken using our digital camera, including all images presented on our website. Visit www.nikonusa.com for more information.

Intraoral Video Camera
Gendex Concept IV Intraoral Camera
Another highly technical digital tool used by Dr. Beougher and Dr. Simon and the hygiene department is the intraoral digital video camera. The tiny device is a video camera that moves around inside the mouth and generates a tooth by tooth video exam. The images can be stored and later enlarged and printed.
As it is difficult to see inside your mouth the intraoral camera provides a previously unseen magnified view. The pen-sized camera features a disposable cover to prevent contamination and is completely safe and painless to use. As the camera moves around the mouth it sends video images to a computer which is then displayed on a monitor. The images can then be viewed by both the doctor and patient. Using the intraoral camera allows the patient to better understand their needs by seeing what the dentist sees, while having it explained.
Since the intraoral camera generates images that are stored enlarged and analyzed, often dental problems can be caught in their early stages. Once treatment options are discussed and agreed upon, our intraoral camera can be used to effectively track treatment progress.
The digital images allow us to:

TOPCavitron Ultrasonic Scaler
EMS/Piezon Master 400 Cavitron
A cavitron is a dental hygiene tool that uses high frequency sound waves to clean teeth. The Piezon Master 400 Cavitron used in Willow Bend Dental is a state of the art instrument that has proven to be a very successful tool in removing tartar from both above and below the gumline. Instead of scaling the teeth with bulky hand scalers, the cavitron ultrasonic cleaner uses oscillating sound waves to gently vibrate the tartar away from your teeth. The cavitron unit is so gentle that it can even be used for deep cleaning and gum therapy without the need for anesthesia. Having your teeth cleaned with a cavitron is a safe effective and painless alternative to traditional cleaning methods.

LaserSmile by Biolase
The LaserSmile by Biolase is the latest innovation in tooth whitening. The LaserSmile is a laser activated bleaching system that can effectively whiten teeth up to six shades whiter in one office visit! LaserSmile teeth whitening treatments usually take less than an hour from start to finish. Each bleaching session is broken down into two individual applications with the duration of the first application being 16 minutes and the second 8 minutes. This means that the cumulative exposure of the patient's teeth to the LaserSmile teeth whitening gel is 24 minutes. Pre and post treatment preparations and activities round the total treatment time up to about an hour or slightly less, whereas most other systems require 60 minutes or more. Results are immediate.
If you have questions about LaserSmile, please contact our Plano office about our entire tooth whitening options.
